If you’re an Esthetician or Cosmetologist practicing in Nevada, we have GREAT news for you! As of 2022, the State Board of Nevada passed Senate Bill 291 – a law that states that any licensed esthetician that wants to become an Advanced Esthetician can now complete a 75-hour laser course until October 2023. After October 2023, estheticians will be required to complete either a 300-hour or 900-hour course.

If you’re an active Esthetician or Cosmetologist practicing in Nevada, you need to know about Senate Bill 291. On June 4th, 2021 the Governor of Nevada approved a new bill which requires all active “Estheticians and Cosmetologists” to complete a 75 Hour Laser Course in order to offer the services below as an “Advanced Esthetician”. The newly segregated services that do not require a Physician, Physician’s Assistant, or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) are galvanic current, ultrasonic skin scrubbers, microcurrent, LED, fibroblast, nano-needling, microneedling, microchanneling, cavitation, cryotherapy, body contouring, body sculpting, and vacuum therapy.
Currently, as of today the only services you can offer legally as an “Esthetician” are lash extensions, lash or brow lifts, facials, hydra facials, makeup, wax and sugaring, microdermabrasion, salt or sugar scrub body treatments, body wraps, high frequency, dermaplaning, extractions, superficial exfoliation, and enzyme peels or masks. Any service that removes living tissue requires the supervision of a healthcare professional (Physician, Physician’s Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse). The current bill allows all “Advanced Estheticians” to become grandfathered into this new law as long as they are licensed before October 31st, 2023. If you aren’t licensed by this date you will have to go back to school for an additional 300 hours to become an “Advanced Esthetician”.

Our 75-Hour Laser Course consists of 43 hours of online and 32 hours of hands-on training. The best part is that YOU can take the online portion at your leisure on YOUR own schedule! We prefer for the online course to be completed first, but we also understand your schedule is limited and we can always offer the in person class first. The certificate will not be issued, and documents signed until both online and in person hours are completed. Our in person training is held on Mondays and Tuesdays for two consecutive weeks from 8:30am – 5:00pm with a thirty minute lunch. Our team will provide lunch but we do need to be alerted of any food allergies or dietary restrictions. Each student will observe and perform treatments and procedures on other students and models. Training will be accomplished using Palomar Starlux 500 laser systems and you will practice Laser Hair Removal, Intense Pulsed Light, Treatment of Vascular Lesions, and Skin Resurfacing . Upcoming 2023 Hands on Training Dates
Upon enrollment in the course students will be given a unique login to the 43- hour course. You will complete the online modules at your own pace. Dermodality instructors will have access to the system to track your progress and confirm when you have completed the online course. Once the online course is completed, you will be instructed to complete the hands on portion of the class. The syllabus consists of Basic Skin Anatomy & Physiology, Basic Laser & Energy Concepts, Laser & IPL assisted Hair Removal, Fractional Skin Resurfacing, Vascular Treatments – Laser and Sclerotherapy, Body Contouring – Cellulite & Circumferential Reduction,Pain Management – Sedation & Comfort Alternatives, and Client Interview & Screening.
The hands-on portion of this course will occur over four 8-hour days at:
Each student will observe and perform treatments and procedures on other students and models. Training will be accomplished using Palomar Starlux 500 laser systems. With these multi-platform systems, students will practice:
*Protective eyewear will be provided for every student. Upon completion of the course, students will be given certificates from the Laser Training Institute, as well as from Dermodality Skin Solutions.
